I finally got a chance to summit Mount Moriarty. Moriarty is further South down the Cameron Main logging road which people use for Mount Arrowsmith and Mount Cokely. It's locked behind a gate which is only open on weekends, when they allow it. With things getting a bit dry, it may not be long before they keep the gate closed for a while so I'm glad I got in there when I could.
I reached out to David to see if he wanted to join. I didn't realize he had done this hike before but he wanted to film it again for his Youtube channel (I'd Rather Be Hiking), so it worked out well. It was nice to finally meet and see how you go about doing what you do!
Mount Moriarty is a fairly short but steep trail up through the forest until you get onto the shoulder of the mountain. From there, we walked over to a smaller summit dubbed Mount Sherlock. The view from this summit was pretty good and it wasn't too far off the path.
There was a bit of rock scrambling on one part of the Moriarty summit but you could also take an easier path around the back. We shared the summit briefly with a couple other hikers and eventually made our way down taking the easier path.
Fun little hike and a good way to end my holidays!
